Virtual Admission Ceremony

On behalf of the Genesee County Bar Association, congratulations on passing the State Bar Examination and your imminent admission to the practice of law.

This year, the Michigan Supreme Court and State Bar of Michigan are offering certified bar passers the unique opportunity, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to participate in a virtual mass swearing-in ceremony. New attorneys will be presented by the State Bar of Michigan President Dennis Barnes and Chief Justice Bridget McCormack will swear everyone in.  The issued orders of admission will be sent to the State Bar of Michigan from the Michigan Supreme Court.

This virtual admission ceremony will take place on Friday, May 15, 2020. Registration is required to participate in this ceremony. Register at

Prior to the swearing-in the GCBA will host an online reception.  You will have the opportunity to meet GCBA President Sherri L. Belknap, GCBA Young Lawyers Representative Craig Datz, and Centennial American Inns of Court President B.D. “Chris” Christenson.

The GCBA has agreed to waive membership dues for newly admitted attorneys to the Bar for the next two years. In order to receive this benefit please complete our membership application at We look forward to your membership.

Again, on behalf of the membership and from the staff of the Genesee County Bar Association, congratulations and best wishes.

For more information or questions contact Tatilia “Tina” Burroughs, Executive Director, at or by calling (810) 232-6000.

At this time we are not offering private admission ceremonies.
