Board of Directors
Nominations are currently being accepted for the position of Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and four (4) Board of Directors’ positions for the Association. The nominating form must be completed and submitted to the GCBA by Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
 
Elections are by slate and will take place at the Bar Association’s Annual Meeting scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2024. For more information contact the Genesee County Bar Association at (810) 232-6000.

Herbert A. Milliken, Jr. Civility Award
Nominations are currently being accepted for the Herbert A. Milliken, Jr. Civility Award. The nominee is a long-time, practicing member of the Genesee County Bar Association who is recognized for the habit of offering professional guidance and advice to their fellow attorneys and being widely recognized as a professional role model who demonstrates the highest standards of professional courtesy and civility combined with a zealous and thorough advocacy on behalf of their clients.

All nominees will be considered by the Genesee County Bar Association Professional Practice Committee who will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors.  The award recipient will be recognized at the Bar Association’s Awards Night.

The deadline to respond is Friday, March 15, 2024, by 5:00 p.m.

Brian M. Barkey Community Service Award
The Brian M. Barkey Community Service Award recognizes a GCBA attorney member or affiliate member who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community service and provided volunteer services to charitable, religious, civic, community, governmental or educational organizations which have improved Genesee County. 

 

Criteria Guidelines:

 The recipient has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community service by volunteering in the following ways:

 

  • Community service hours which show a length and degree of the recipient’s service and dedication to community service.
  • All services provided must be voluntary, uncompensated, and not compelled.
  • The recipient should serve as a role model for compassion, service, and strive to make the Genesee County community a better place.
  • The recipient’s actions have made a lasting or meaningful contribution to the community.

 

All nominees will be considered by the Genesee County Bar Association Professional Practice Committee who will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors.  The award recipient will be recognized at the Bar Association’s Awards Night.

 Golden Apple Award

Award Criteria: The nominee is an outstanding educator in Genesee County who is recognized for the habit of offering professional guidance and advice to their students and fellow teachers and is recognized as a role model who volunteers for worthwhile community projects, including Law Day and related activities.

All nominees will be considered by the Genesee County Bar Association Law Day committee. The award recipient will be recognized at the Bar Association’s Annual Law Day Luncheon. The deadline to respond is March 4, 2020 by 5:00 p.m.
